The following pie chart shows what total federal spending for fiscal year 2007 would be under the administration's proposed budget. Fiscal year 2007 runs from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007.
The 'national defense' portion of the budget includes some, but not all money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The administration put $50 billion for an anticipated supplemental request for the wars, but expected spending will likely be between $100 - $125 billion.
