NPP In ActionAlameda City, CA
"We used NPP's figures at the City Council to show how the Iraq War impacts us here at home. They passed a unanimous resolution supporting a diplomatic approach to the war. It was a good resolution. Last year we had only 2 votes out of 5. This year 2 people changed their minds and the new council member supported the resolution."

Cost of WarCost of War to Your CommunityAbout The Cost of War: To date, $830.2 billion dollars have been allocated to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, $77.1 billion dollars have been requested in the recent supplemental that further fund these wars, for a total of $907.3 billion dollars. The national, state, and local numbers we provide are based on the total of the approved and pending amounts through the end of Fiscal Year 2009. The full FY2010 budget expected in May will contain war funding requests for FY2010. When the FY2010 amounts are approved, we will adjust the counter so that it reaches the new total at the end of FY2010. If you should compare the amount displayed on the numbers in our information sheets with the Cost of War counter, please note that the information sheets include all approved and pending war spending to date, the same number that the counter will reach at the end of the 2009 fiscal year. |
